About Me

Hello. My name is Kamela. Isn't that the correct way to break the ice? Okay, now that we've over that, my deal is that I love to make art. I doodle, draw, collage, write novels and screenplays (ahem, I really should stop hiding my writing under the bed), and I teach yoga. God! I sound like a cliche! Oh well, it might be true but who cares! Life is too short to not do the things you love.

I love to create. I've been creating art and writing stories since my earliest childhood days. When I grew up and became an adult, I got a degree in Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. That was an experience to put it in a nutshell. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Didn't Nietzsche say that?

My doggie loves to nap.
After I got my fancy degree, I put my time into working as a food and prop stylist. My effort paid off with my work gracing the pages of Times Magazine to The Drake Hotel Guide to Chicago. Once the economy swung directions and the industry downsized in Chicago, I moved back home to California and got into residential design. AH...then the entire economy really slipped. I turned back to writing and making art. At the same time, I met the man of my dreams and moved to Toronto. Whew! What a story, right?! Believe in Happy Endings!

Our wedding photo was published in Town & Country Magazine!
I was a blond at the altar!
My life journey has been about getting authentic. I stopped trying to make perfect art. I wrote stories that I wanted to read. I love just being me, and as a result I'm loving life. It's all due to my awesome husband and kudos to my doggie, Valentino!! The greatest gift happened when I gave birth in 2011 to a beautiful baby girl, Makena. My husband and I couldn't feel more blessed. I truly enjoy creating and giving to others. Nothing can be more magically then inspiring others to live with creativity, beauty, and authenticity.

So now that about wraps me up, or unwraps me. Now I really must make some tea and pick up something to make a mark with so I can share it with the world and make people smile.

XOXO,

Kamela
